FilmFernsehFonds Bayern (FFF Bayern) is the public funding organization of Bavaria for film, TV, cinemas, VR and digital games. Since 2009 FFF Bayern supports the development and production of high quality games with a culturally or educationally ambitious approach. The funding is organized in close cooperation with the Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs and Media, Energy and Technology.

Together with our partners under the umbrella of Games / Bavaria we want to enhance and strengthen the Bavarian games industry, to ensure a diverse cultural landscape, and to support innovation. Our contribution is above all the financial support of start-ups and established companies.

Funding can be applied for:

  • Concept Development
  • Prototype Development
  • Production

Applications for support may be submitted three times a year. The decisions by the Allocation Committee are published four to five weeks after the application day.

The budget for the funding program has been increased up to € 1,8 million for 2018. The maximum funding sum is € 20.000 for concept development, € 80.000 for prototype development and € 200.000 for production.

Furthermore, the publishing group Computec Media GmbH provides media services worth € 3,33 million to games funded by the FFF Bayern.

At the annual event Update Games, the FFF Bayern informs the participants in lectures and panels about its funding activity, funded projects as well as the games hub Bavaria.

Every summer, up to 60 representatives of the local games industry, from science, politics, and the press take part at the FFF hiking tour. In this unusual context, they have the opportunity to get to know each other casually.
