GAMES BW at MFG Medien- und Filmgesellschaft Baden-Württemberg is the public funding organization of Baden-Württemberg. Under the umbrella of GAMES BW we support the development and production of high quality and innovative games with a culturally, innovatively or educationally ambitious approach and the games ecosystem in Southwest Germany.

MFG Medien- und Filmgesellschaft Baden-Württemberg mbH is an institution of the state of Baden-Württemberg and Südwestrundfunk broadcaster (SWR). The aim of MFG is to promote and strengthen film, games and the cultural and creative industries in general. MFG operates as a state-wide centre of excellence for cultural and creative industries in German Southwest.

Mission

GAMES BW is intended to contribute to strengthening the digital audiovisual sector and the production and development of games in Baden-Württemberg, Germany and Europe. We support innovations in the field of games and games technologies, we create an economically healthy and sustainable games ecosystem, contribute to a diverse and innovative cultural landscape.

Activities

MFG provides support measures targeted at the games sector – from young talent and start-up programs to the production of successful games made in Baden-Württemberg:

• GAMES BW Funding:
  Funding programme for games in the funding types of concept development, prototype development or production of games
• HOLA: Talent program for students and graduates
• Developer Boost:
  Start-up accelerator for games studios
• GiG – Games in Healthcare:
  Cross-innovation program to develop and promote games in the healthcare sector
• Open Stage GAMES BW:
  Event series serving as an open platform for the regional games sector
• Animated Games Award Germany:
  National award for games of high artistic quality, sponsored by MFG
• GAMES BW at gamescom:
  Baden-Württemberg booth at the international games fair in Cologne
• GAMES BW Players map:
  Online business directory for games companies and institutions
• GAMES BW Public Relations:
  Publications and news articles on the website featuring game companies from the German Southwest

All measures are part of the GAMES BW funding strategy to strengthen Baden-Württemberg as a location for games and innovation in interactive media.
